There are lots of little things you can do to make a difference in how your home looks and feels. Painting is usually the biggest project to increase value, as a freshly painted house looks clean and inviting. Here are 10 really small and inexpensive things that you can do to get your house ready to sell:

1. Clean your kitchen. The kitchen is the most important room in the home. Clear your counters, clean your cabinets, paint anything that needs painting.

2. Put new knobs on cabinets and drawers. You can replace or paint your knobs — neutral is always the key.

3. Replace wall switch covers and plugs. These items are dirt magnets and often overlooked. Coordinate the colors with new wall colors.

4. Wash the windows. Clean windows leave a good impression with buyers. Plus, it adds to your curb appeal.

5. Paint your front door. Not only does this add to your curb appeal, but a freshly painted front door will make a good impression.

6. Power-wash your deck. It’s cheap, but can improve the area dramatically.

7. Scrub your tub. Soap scum and film can build up on your shower and bathtub. Scrub the tub and it will shine!

8. Tidy up the closets. Potential buyers will look in your closets — tidy them up and make them look presentable.

9. Clean your garage floor. Sweep and hose it off. Make sure your garage is NOT where you hide all of your stuff from the house.

10. Tidy up the basement. Potential buyers will look at the basement. Give them the opportunity to see themselves in your space.
